We visited the Tokyo Metropolitan Kitazono High School

On January 18, 2019, we visited the Kitazono High School in the Itabashi ward in Tokyo as a part of our PR activities for Transeuro Academy.

Kitazono High School puts a lot of energy in the education of the second foreign language. About 200 students are currently studying German there.

The Kitazono High School is a partner of the PASCH program (Partnerschul-Initiative- an exchange program for adolescents that learn German) that is hosted by the German ministry for foreign affairs and promotes international exchange strongly. In the past pupils of this school also won the Japan-wide German Speech Contest for High schoolers hosted by the Dokkyo University.

During our visit, the German teacher gave us an overview of their German education and what they plan for the future. Thanks to the teacher CEO Kato was also allowed to take part in a German lesson for 2nd-year students and had a chance to talk to young German learners that have a future full of possibilities ahead.

Kato introduced them to special German terms used in patent translations and introduced the profession of German translator to them in an entertaining manner. The students had a lot of questions and Kato answered them with a sense of humor. Overall it was a very active lesson.

When you already know the joy of studying languages you should definitely know about the option of becoming a translator. Maybe one of the students will become a patent translator in the future. In the future, we plan to expand our activities to more schools and universities all over Japan and spread the knowledge and joy of the profession of patent translator further.
